Randy Brecker / Bill Evans Soulbop Featuring Medeski, Martin & Wood

"…for those who like their jazz with a heavy dose of funk and fusion energy, Soulbop Band Live is just what the doctor ordered."
- All About Jazz
""For fans of the genre, this is as good as it gets...the sense of melody apparent in all musicians and the fact that they all play for the song should win over every listener with an open mind.""
- CD Universe

In 2003, trumpet virtuoso Randy Brecker and saxophone extraordinaire Bill Evans formed Soulbop, a unique musical experience combining elements of funk, jazz, soul, and blues. The result was a band of superstar musicians who could play these styles and virtually any kind of music at the highest level.

The Randy Brecker / Bill Evans Soulbop band has headlined the European Festivals on an annual basis, and celebrated the release of "Soulbop Live," a double CD recorded during their 2004 world tour.

In 2011, Soulbop will be joined by the renowned Medeski, Martin & Wood, whose melding of jazz, funk, “avant-noise” and a million other musical currents and impulses is nearly impossible to classify. Medeski’s keyboard excursions, Chris Wood’s hard-charging bass lines and Billy Martin’s supple, danceable beats have come to resemble a single organism, moving gracefully between genre-defying compositions and expansive improvisation atop a relentless groove.
